The Profit Rocket Review

It is very easy to pre-judge these kind of systems with the conclusion that we have all seen it before. However, the more I look into this system the more it is beginning to grow on me. However, the proof of the pudding is in the eating and that is exactly what we will be doing over the forthcoming weeks.
The system is called The Profit Rocket System. It is based on laying a number of horses within the same race. A person, known as “The Perfect Punter”, identifies what he believes to be the vulnerable horses in a particular race. Now, rather than just lay these horses and hope for the best, he uses a mathematical formula to evaluate their true chance of winning the race. If this perceived chance is much lower than the market prices suggest then this is deemed to be a worthwhile selection to lay.
This in theory, is the best way to approach the Backing and Laying of horses. There are so many systems out there that identify Favourable/Unfavourable situations and advocate backing a horse just because it has been drawn in a good starting stall, oblivious to the fact that the odds have already discounted this favourable situation.
A good way of explaining this is to imagine a dice game where you can back the chance of a six being rolled. Everyone is aware that the odds of this happening is 5/1 (6.0) and unless you are offered odds higher than this, you would be a fool to place a bet on it. However, someone notices that the dice that is next to be thrown has three sixes on it. Everyone starts backing that a six will be thrown since they think that they know the outcome of the throw. They are told the odds on offer is 10 to 11 on (1.91). But who cares, everyone is currently backing the six, so it must be the correct thing to do. In the long run, they all lose their money since, as everyone knows, evens (2.0) are the correct odds for this situation.
All great in theory, the big question is, how does one evaluate the TRUE odds of a horse in a race?
Well “The Perfect Punter” has been studying this aspect for the last two years and he thinks he has come up with the method.
Naturally, the formula is so complex for us to work out that he does all the hard work for us and sends out the selections on a daily basis at midday, each day via an email.
The good thing about laying more than one horse in a race is that it allows us to lay horses that are priced much higher than usual. E.g. the laying of 3 horses @ 10.0 basically equates to laying 1 horse @ 3.0.

The other important aspect of The Profit Rocket system is that the horses are layed with different stakes. These stakes have again been calculated using a mathematical formula. These stakes are indicated within the daily email.
I also believe, although I have not seen it yet, there is an indication of the price at which it would be too high to lay the selection.
The pre-release testing results are incredibly amazing with over 100 points profit for October alone. These results have been completely verified by independent sources.
September by all accounts was even more impressive.
So the big question is, is The Profit Rocket the “Mother of all Systems” or is it just a “Flash in the Pan”……?
Well there is only one way of finding out.
The Profit Rocket Review
On a nightly basis I will audit trail the selections and see how it goes.
There are normally between 40 and 50 selections per day, so for simplicity sake, on a nightly basis, I will name the race meeting under which I will list all the selections for that meeting that the “Perfect Punter” has deemed to be vulnerable and whose market prices make it a viable prospect for it to be layed. Besides each selection I will list its BFSP and recommended stake. I will also indicate whether the selection won or lost.
Remember, this is a LAYING system and we will LAY all the selections for the recommended stake and that all winnings, for a particular race, will be subjected to the customary 5% commission charge.
The profit and loss for the day will be shown at the bottom of the day’s activity.
The problem that I have already started to find in placing my trades on these selections is that the trading during the last 30 seconds before the race has started is pretty frantic for these selections. People appear to be laying them at any price they can. Has the value gone already?
Well, at least when there are 3 or 4 horses that need to be layed, they can’t all drift in those last 30 seconds……Can they……?
So the big question is……Will this be a case of “The Sky’s The Limit” for the Profit Rocket System or will it just be another system that “Goes Up In Smoke”……In time for bonfire night……?

Well, it certainly was an incredible day today for the “Profit Rocket” System.
Unfortunately, to my eyes, it has done too well. I know that it sounds crazy to say that but a good example of this was shown in the penultimate race at Kempton tonight (8:20).
When the four selections for this race came out at lunchtime:
Dianes Choice was trading @ 15.0
Ishibee was trading @ 17.5
Outer Hebrides was trading @ 13.5
Sign Of The Cross was trading @ 8.80
The four horses went off with BFSP’s of 24.0 40.0 22.62 and 13.57.
It certainly was not a co-incidence that these were the ONLY four horses that were drifting in the market during the last 10 minutes before the off.
People had made the observation that the system had been doing very well during the day and were therefore eager to lay these four selections at any price.
I guess you are probably saying that as long as they lose, then who cares what price they go off at.
However, the system is based on laying horses at VALUE prices. These four horses definitely did not go off at value prices for laying.
I have been taking a very close look at the results for October. When the dust had settled, October was looking at a very healthy profit of 93.70 points.
During the month of October, of the lay selections, 133 did actually win. (One was a dead heat).
That is a high number but that is fine with me since a total of 884 selections were layed for the month.
The key thing to focus on is the price of the 133 winners. It is this price that determines whether a profit will be made on the month.
The average price of those 133 selections was 5.53. Again that is quite high, but since we are laying two or three selections per race then that is fine with me.
The total stake that was layed for the 133 selections was 99.25.
This means that it only requires the average price of our WINNING selections to go up by one point, for the system to show a nett loss for the month.
One point may sound alot, but looking at the action on tonight’s selections, then it is hardly anything at all……

I guess the inevitable happened today. The day starts with EIGHT successes from the first nine races. The prices of the selections now goes up and when a few winners arrive, which obviously they will, massively over priced and a quarter of the profits to date are wiped out in one day.
This may turn out to be a good thing for the system since hopefully people will now be put off by today and give the system a miss and hopefully more reasonable realistic prices will be achievable to lay the selctions.

A repeat performance of yesterday. Six successful races at the start of the day which generated +9 points for the system. People push the prices up so that when the lay selections start winning, which they have to do at some stage, they are winning at inflated prices and the profit disappears very quickly.
It is difficult to see how a system like this can ever be profitable in the long run. A system that relies on laying lots of horses knowing that even when it does lay a winner it is at a good value price. Unfortunately, as soon as the system gets known to be successful, the value laying prices are not value anymore.

As from today, there is a new concept whereby certain selections will be assigned a price at which the selection must not be layed above. We will be using the BFSP to determine this factor. If the BFSP is above the maximum level, this horse will not be included as a selection. If in turn this horse is required to run in order that this is a valid race then this will race will be not included.

Earlier in the week the author intoduced a “New Rule” for the System that said, if a 10 point profit had been accumulated by the system at any point in the day, then no more trades were to be placed for the day and hence protecting the profit. Personally, as soon as I see a system that uses one of these “Stop at a Profit” concepts, I regard it as a sign of great weakness in that obviously the author has no confidence in his system. If the author had confidence in his system then he would want to be involved in as many trades as possible. To be fair to the author on this occasion, he does openly say that this is only a temporary rule.
However, the rule could get rather subjective since we could quite easily experience overlapping races. So for the purpose of our exercise we will continue as we have been doing.

Summary:
Well, we have been at this one for three and a half months now and I guess we have to finally throw in the towel. Things certainly started well, however things started to go bad after Christmas. It is difficult to find any good reasons for the sudden change of fortunes. I guess if we could explain the reasons for the turnaround, we would all be very rich by now.
I am certainly in favour of the concept of laying multiple horses within a race and hence reducing the exposure for that race and I am sure the author is onto something with this system, however, I guess there is some fine tuning required so for the moment this system will reside in the NOT reccommended section.
Oh dear, another Sportsworld system with the usual massive profit claims. These guys have a massive turnover of systems with a brand new batch appearing every few months. Their track record isn’t very good at all. Anyone else remember:

The track record for Sportsworld Systems is NOT good.
This looks a complete “Scam” to me.
The givaway “Clue” is that I have analysed their last week or two selections, and that is alot, since they have FORTY selections every day, and bearing in mind they are claiming that for the last month they have had 500 testers placing bets in the open market, there is hardly any signs on market movements in the minutes leading up to the start of the race. Unless these 500 people have been trading “One Penny” transactions, there is no way that 500 testers have been playing these markets in the real world.
Unless all 500 are paper trading only? I have bought at least half a dozen systems from them over the last 10 years and none has lived up to the claimed results. I don’t even look at any new promotions they offer anymore.

Is this just guessing?? Look at some of the high prices that are layed!!! just a few of these will seriously hurt your bank. I have no trust in Sportsworld as they “disappear” a number of systems after a few months,IF they were any good they would be kept for sale.

Why pay for all these ? Loads of free systems out there if you look, nobody with a really successful money earner is gonna try to flog it anyway, why bother ? The only possible reason for it is for a trader to lay early , and then if sufficient “subscribers” lay and drive out the price he an guarantee a free lay or trading profit. Even better if you can do it with cash from mugs like me!
how do you place the bets? once you get the email with all selections can you lay them all in the morning and leave or do you have to lay them as the races come up? looking at the odds laid, i think you need a pretty large bank to lay and forget them all at once in the morning. for the first time i will admit sportsworld seem to be producing something that works according to your trial.

I have been following this since 1/11 and yes it does seem to be working. I’m trying not to get too excited given Sportsworldpublishing’s list of failures.
You would need a massive bank to place all the bets in the morning and given the lack of liquidity in the market and subsequent price movements this obviously would effect the results that you get. Fortunately I can follow the selections on a race to race basis.

In theory you can just lay then at the time you receive the Email. However, as you say, you are going to need quite a large bank to do that. Also if you are trying to lay at the BetFair Starting Price for the correct amount (Trying to simulate the trial conditions) then you are obviously going to have to lay as close to the start of the race as possible).
There is also the problem that sometimes when you are say laying two or three horses within the same race, there is a stipulation that ALL the horses have to be racing. You will not know this is going to be the case until minutes before the start.

It is fine whilst the system finds horses that lose……and it is finding plenty of those.
However, when it does find a horse that wins the BFSP of this horse is now one or even two points higher than it should be and since the system revolves around finding value this can only lead the system downwards……
Time will tell……
Then theres going to be too many people using it and spoiling the prices? I guess most people at this moment only paper trading or following with smallish stakes and review sites like this shows massive profits then people will jump on. 6 months down the road I think prices will pretty be much destroyed especially we know theres only so much money on higher priced horses. The ony way is to limit subscribers or are they only after the monthly subscriptions to make their money?
Surprisingly this system doesn’t look too bad so far. I like the method a lot: laying multiple value horses per race to increase profits and reduce liability.
My biggest issue is why someone would offer something like this for sale or subscription at all? Liquidity is limited (even though for most of us it will not be an issue) and having say, a hundred people using your method must certainly put at least a couple of thousand pounds worth of lay pressure on the price.
this seems to have lost its way over the last few days it is not for the faint hearted laying horses at odds between 10-30 bsp a couple of these go against you your bank is dented big time,still it is showing a profit in the trail.
re john forbes you would not know what the bsp was until after the race started then it is to late unless you place in running. you say it spiked in the last few moments before the race started,not sure from what price but it is possible that some would lay the horse thinking it would be under the bsp of 30.

The technique that a lot of people are using for this system is where they are using the BetFair option of laying at SP with a limit of the lay price. So in this instance you would submit the lay trade saying that you want to lay at the BetFair SP proving that the BetFair SP is not above 30.0.
In this particular instance you could see that alot of people were doing this since seconds before the race started you could see the BetFair stats at what price people were trying to lay at SP at.

Actually it is done on liability……So you would have to lay @ SP with a maximum SP of 30.0 and a liability of £725. That equates to winning £25 on your lay trade if the BFSP ends up at 30.0. If the selection had ended up with a BFSP of 28.0 then you would end up laying for an amount of £26.85.

You really only do this tactic when it is touch and go on whether the maximum price is going to be exceeded.

hi guys, the only way to use this system is to purchase it and go back to it and use it in a few months time as people will have gone onto other betting products, i use this technique with other systems.
you will then find the prices are acheivable!!

If you want to use that tactic, then it is probably best not to buy the system quite yet……Remember this is NOT a system which gives you rules to find horses to lay……You pay a monthly subscription which gives you access to a website that gives you the selections to LAY on a daily basis……

Thats what I hate about systems that have not had the real test of time. Rules changing halfway just shows the lack of confidence in the original rules in the first place.

I can’t think of many products marketed by SWP which have been properly tested over say at least 12 months. It seems to me that something seems to work for a month or two and then they are eager to flog what can turn out to be a pile of rubbish.
I’m holding judgement on the Profit Rocket as it seems to be treading water at present.At least it isn’t losing a fortune but the constant need to redefine the rules is worrying.
I have been with this service since the start and remain a full supporter of it.
The author seems genuine and I have asked him direct and he confirmed that ‘no rules have been changed’. The only thing is the price limits, and this is to adjust for drifters caused by the extra money laying the selections.
The other change was to introduce betting to Betfair SP this is great as it means ALL members get the same results! When most systems quote prices nobody could get this is a very welcome addition indeed!
I will take a bit of treading water as it is not losing much and I still have confidence that previous months will be repeated.

5 out of 7 favs won fair enough, but there was not a bet in every race at this meeting, the main one that did the damage was a 12/1 shot which was laid.

The results table was updated today and I thought it made interesting reading. While it is clearly in a bad run, it was only down 22 points for the month, now 17 after today’s +5 points.
Given what it made in the past, this loss is still pretty small. This does seem to be about as bad as it can possibly get, and yet it hasn’t got close to blowing the profits it has built up.
It is that stability that makes me impressed and why I am still in the category of ‘keeping the faith’.
If and when it turns the corner, it has shown that a winning day is over 10 points, which means in 2 days all losses can be erased. Not an unrealistic thought and I still am sticking with it.
I just read on another review site that theres another new rule. Stopping at 10 points profit? Whats that all about then?

You are correct in that earlier in the week, the author introduced the concept that when the system achieves a 10 point profit for the day, then we stop for the day.
Personally, I would prefer to find out how this system performs using as much data/races as possible. So we won’t be using this rule. Anyway, this idea is only a temporary one and can be highly subjective since we can quite easily experience overlapping races which makes it impossible to enforce.

Seems to be going downhill. Although still in profit, you still have to consider the monthly subs and the amount of time involved without using a bot. Hardly worth the effort.
what annoys me is the results page has not been updated since 27 dec.
Thats because they are waiting for an uphill trend in profits. The results now will put many potential customers off.

I think its time to put this in the not recommended section. The results are too much of a roller coaster ride. Another loser from the famous sportsworld collection.
Started out looking very promising, but ended up with no profit after almost 3 months worth of testing. By the way the total of +0.08 pts does not include the cost of subscription to the service. It is possible that it could be profitable again if enough people drop out so that the lay prices go back to normal, but don’t hold your breath.

I’m sorry, but for a system seller to say that is unacceptable. The system is meant to be tweaked beforehand to give users the best returns and fewest losses. It’s all very well and good to say that by eliminating x or y from a list of system rules you would have turned a profit, but that is no benefit to those who have already wasted their money. Just like the Protege system – have a horrible losing run then put in a different set of rules and the system suddenly become more efficient as more losing bets are thrown out.
TTo be fair, I feel that this author does have a lot more to him than most of the others out there.
He does apologise for the poor results rather than hide them, and he has constantly be working on finding a way round the problem.
So may system authors take my money and when things go bad they run off. At least this guy has stuck with it and is prepared to put in the work to try and make it work so that I get what I have paid for.
More power to him, and I just hope that his dedication pays off as he deserves it in my view.
Yep totally agree with LF. This just proves that this system has never had the test of time and shows lack of confidence on original rules. I can come up with a system on the lines of please lay every 4th and 5th fav on 12 runner hanidicap races. While its showing a profit all good and well, when its doing shite I will change the rules to ermm, only lay 4th and 5th on certain courses then we would have made x instead of losing y. This is all bollocks. The rocket has CRASHED! Funny how sportsworld is not publishing up to date results on this!

Yes he’s making some sort of effort to keep it going but are punters prepared to keep paying monthly subs and risking money to see if new rules are going to make them money?
He should have researched both Flat AND NH thoroughly before putting it on the market.Will he change more rules when/if it starts to lose on the Flat.
i feel another change in the rules is coming soon.

To tie in with what I said before about a system creator being an idiot for marketing a (assumedly) profitable system to the public: since the 30th of October I put the total number of race winners (losing lay bets) at 500. For the same period the system made a profit of -17.03 pts. It is very likely that if he didn’t force the prices out due to everybody laying them he could get lay prices that would be on average 0.2 pts better than what they would otherwise be, and he would end up turning his 17 point loss into an 83 point profit over the same time period. Just that tiny fraction in prices is the difference between a good profit and a loss.
Time to stick this one in the NOT recommended. You have given it a fair shot, one of the longest test you ever done here. I think most punters would have given up on this by now. Good luck to those who are sticking with it.
Think it’s time to knock this one on the head. If this method was expected to make money over time then you should be ahead by now after betting on hundreds of races rather than making new lows in the bankroll.
