The Betalay horse racing system is really getting discussed in various horse racing forums at the moment since it promisses to learn people how they can earn lots of money. The Betalay website starts out like 99% of other horse racing systems by describing how they have earned £170.000 since 2000. And say that you can expect to earn around £2000 each month with £25 stakes.

This off course sounds like something we all would love very much, and they try top convince us by having a very good results section where you can see all the results from earlier years. They make a bold claim “these results are 100% genuine and are independently verified. All results are based upon £25 stakes.” I just would like to know who has independently verfied this??? they don’t comment on that in their salespage. But that is a minor issue so we let it go again, they are sellers so it’s ok with a little salespitch now and then, the important thing is whether the results are good or not.

Putting the Betalay results to a test

I decided to look into the results that are posted and it was very obvious (for everyone who has been in the game for a while) that these results also is a marketing scam. The Betalay is a LAYING system which means that you need to lay the selections on a Betting Exchange like Betfair. This means that you have to take 5% into consideration since this will be most people commission to pay to Betfair. Furthermore all their prices are quoted at SP odds.

Quoting prices at SP odds are one of the biggest scams used by horse racing systems sellers (selling lay systems). Why don’t they prove their selections to Betfair SP which is the prices that you actually can place the Lays at??? There is an easy answer – The answer is that when you lay at Betfair SP then usually you lay at odds that are 10-30% more expensive tahn regular SP odds (which are used in the results section).

We can now easily see that the bold headline and salesmessage is a marketing trick, but still this could be a ok system if it earned 50% of what it promissed.

What is included with the purchase of The Betalay horse racing system?

The system is very simple and will take less than 30 seconds to find you selections. There are only 3 very simple rules. The system is so simple that it will also give you lots of action everyday. This will of course cost you a lot of Betfair commission but they don’t mention anything about Betfair commission or the fact that you are laying at higher prices than their results page show.

After having put the system to a back test we could see that if you could LAY at only 10% more than SP then you would have made around £1100 per year with £25 stakes and 5% Betfair commission. This is definately not a lot when you take all the time into consideration that you then have spend at the computer. Furthermore I doubt that anyone will be able to lay these selections only 10% higher than SP. Realistic would be around the 20% mark and at this point you will lose around £3000 every year with £25 stakes.

Conclusion of The Betalay review

This is not the worst system that I have ever seen, and I think that you could use it to build upon, but you need to tweak it a lot before it becomes profitable long term. If you are very lucky and finding very good odds you maybe even can earn a very small amount, but I doubt it.

I have also seen that The Betalay system is recommended by other so called “unbiased” betting sites. I’m sorry to tell you that they are absolutely not unbiased when they can recommend this system where you easily can go back and test the results. I will guarantee if you ask them that they don’t play any of their own money with this system. So beware of the so called independent reviews out there who is trying to make a quick buck in commission. I have no special interest in saying that you should not buy a system since I only earn money if you buy it. But I believe that a few REAL recommendations is better than a lot of more or less good recommendations.

Please share your view in the comments field. I love to hear from you guys :-)

Thank you. I will do my best to give you some quality reviews so that you don’t waste your money on systems only designed to make money for the one who markets it.

I purchased betalay in march 08 paper traded for 3 weeks my results were not the same as posted on the website, I emailed several times for answers on this never got a reply, You need a large bank and a lot of time but I never saw any real profit cos you win a few you lose a few and your liability is always a lot higher.
Funny enough he never replied to my refund email- so much for the cast iron money back policy.

    top site for reviews, cheers

    Hi,
I’ve just discovered your site & I’d like to say I’m really impressed. I’ve spent the last three months searching the net for profitable racing systems to build up into a portfolio. In my search I came across several review sites. One in particular (OBE)highly recommended Betalay while another was very negative about it (SBC). The same also occurred with Bet Accelerator and when this was pointed out to the OBE guys they totally trashed the SBC methods of review. Strangely though, SBC’s & your review of Betalay are very similar, pointing out the same flaws & discrepancies. Needless to say, I won’t be purchasing Betalay. I’m also looking forward to your review of The Canbridge Target System since I’ve noticed the exact same situation as per Betalay & Bet Accelerator i.e. a negative review vs a very positive review.
Thanks for the great site & the UNBIASED reviews.

i just claim my refund after testing this sytem for one week. It might works, but your risk is very high… ONE LOSES , u need to used at least few race profit to cover it…

  9. admin on June 4th, 2008 9:07 am

Raikon=> That is quite normal with laying systems. However, Betalay won’t work in the long run so good that you realise it before you lose too much.

Hi every one out their i am using Betalay but only on handicaps over 1m or more check the comments in the race, make sure it is not a postdata or R P rating, check allso the trainer is not in the top ten
for that track and the jockey too is not in the top
ten. Wait untill the last minute to place your bet
lay the 3rd fav. I have had good results doing this
however dont do as i do at times and take a risk on other races,i have learnd a hard lesson stil in profit but a hard lesson non the less.

    Hi folks,
I was reading about the system on the Betalay website but was not really tempted because a. I thought ‘I’ve heard it all before’ b. The refund guarantee may not mean a thing after you’ve parted with your money and then c. I thought I’d use the power of the internet to see what others say about the system anyway which brought me to your site. Know what seems to generate winners, though? (NOT horses for laying!) Look at the horses who have travelled the furthest to their races in the RP, then select the ones that are in the first four in the betting.
It seems to throw up a decent percentage of winners. Today: w13/8, w7/1 and a loser(3rd). Seen a few make the frame actually.

    Paul,
I understand the system is sold through CLKBNK,
they give a refund up to 3 months, no need to go to the original website for a refund
