One of the most popular horseracing pages at the moment i www.dailydonkey.com and therefore I feel it’s time to tell the truth about dailydonkey.

I first found dailydonkey when I clicked on a link on one the many racing sites I visit everyday. There was a person in a forum saying that this was totally crazy and an easy way to earn money.

Well, I went into the results page on dailydonkey.com and was amazed about the results (who would not be that??) They had huge winnings every month and there was lots of action since they posted many selections everyday.

However, I was a litlle sceptical and started to look over the results a bit more and then I found out it unfortunately not was as great as I had thought.

What is wrong with Dailydonkey – An unbiased view?

Unfortunately there are many things wrong with Dailydonkey here are just a few of them from my personal view.

1) All selections are quoted at normal SP odds. These odds are way below what you are able to lay at Betfair. In general Betfair prices are 16% or more higher than normal SP prices. If you then look at the odds of many of Daily donkeys selecetions you will see that many of them are quite high, which makes the Betfair price much higher too.

2) There are too many selections everyday. I have so far never seen a horse racing system (or other kind of betting system) find so many horses that are good to play (remember you need to find value bets to beat the bookies). Dailydonkey also don’t calculate Betfair provision (which is typically around 5%). This commission really runs up when you are placing so many bets everyday.

The reality of Daily donkey – Daily Donkey put to a test. Does Dailydonkey work?

I will be good to dailydonkey and say that we can get the lays at Betfair for 16% more than SP odds. I put the Betfair commission at 5% (which is a litlle higher than you will get if you play a lot).

If you have played the last 6 months you will have had 10.000 bets. If you had used 100£ as your stake you would now be 32970 £ poorer.

If you don’t believe the results above then I will ask you to sit down one day and write which odds you can LAY dailydonkey selections for at Betfair. You will quickly see a big difference and stop wasting time and money with dailydonkey.

Conclusion of the review of DailyDonkey – Please stop wasting your time and money. This system does not work at all.

Have you every tested Maria’s Staking Plan

    Regards David

    Hi David,

Marias staking plan is not a system but just a staking plan. I have tested it on all my lay systems through the staking machine (you can read more about the staking machine in “recommended systems” even though it’s also just a staking plan software.

I have so far never found that it has been performing better than some other plans. I think it depends on your lay system if this staking plan is any good.

I have also followed the Daily Donkey for about 6 months and agree with Admin that their results stats are a bit misleading as the SP is often 15-25% lower than the price available on Betfair plus Betfair commission is not allowed for.

Sadly, I have also found instances where they have “forgotten” to include a few long odds losing bets which distorts their claimed profits.

So a more accurate assessment would be to discount their quoted profits by at least 25%. However, you can always limit your exposure and the Daily Donkey does also provide results if you cap your laying to 5/1 (6). Generally, this proves to be more profitable in terms of reducing stress as they always seem to manage selecting at least one 10/1 or 12/1 shot every day that romps home!

They had a particularly bad run in May and this month is also proving to be difficult. However, I have noticed that they are tending to select shorter odds donkeys in the last few weeks and I have been quite successful in placing Win Place bets on their selections as they seem to get a disproportionate number of 2nd and 3rd placed horses!

Plus I don´t personally like to bet on Irish races as I find the betting too erratic and it is also more difficult to look into a horse´s analysis. Again, the Donkey selections on Irish races often come in 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

Finally, I personally set a profit target of 10 points per day. Often the Donkey goes off on a winning bet run of 10 selections in a row and by limiting my profit target don´t find it impossible to achieve.

This is a free laying service so you cannot really complain if you sometimes lose money. But I have enjoyed success with The Daily Donkey even if it is just reading the daily blog explaining why yet another outsider romped home!!

Yes ! I feel the big problem with Maria’s Laying Plan is similar to Daily Donkey. The ability to lay at SP or close to SP.

What in your opinion is the best way to lay successfully.

Anlalyse the races and find favourites that are not as hot favourites as the odds implies. Use more than form to base your decision upon since most people ONLY look on the form.
Racing Secrets Exposed will give you a very good knowledge about how to lay favourites.

If Daily Donkey is such a loser and the spreads on Betfair are not too big surely you could simpy back everything he says to Lay?

    Hi NVB

Yeah, I made the point in an earlier post that the Daily Donkey selections can be good place bets as they seem to attract a very high number of 1,2,3 placed most days!

I think there was one day recently when their place win strike rate was about 70%….not bad!

    Hi,
    You say,
” If you have played the last 6 months you will have had 10.000 bets. If you had used 100£ as your stake you would now be 32970 £ poorer.”

what about his “lay of the day” results?
