I have now found a person who was willing to test Cracking Betfair so we can give it a fair review. Cracking Betfair contains both a Backing system and a Laying System. Personally I’m most interested in the laying system, but the tester has also agreed to test the backing system.

What is included in Cracking Betfair?

You get a ebook to donwload on 24 pages. There are some normal introduction to betfair and then there are the backing system and the laying system.

The Backing system contain 4 simple rules which I think most people know when they see them. I don’t think it’s enough to get any edge which can turn this system into a winner. I also have read another review which actually think that this could be used when laying horses!!!!

The laying system in Cracking Betfair is a little more interesting. It’s not something like lay the third favourite within any kind of odds range, there is a little more to it and I have not seen anyone else test the laying system so I’m looking forward to the results even though I also doubt that the selection process is good enough.

UPDATE 14th July: FULL REVIEW OF CRACKING BETFAIR

I have now decided to cancel the test of cracking Betfair because I think it’s a waste of time to test more. The laying system has also failed to do any good.

As you can see in the comments underneath the only way to profit from this system is to actually lay the Back bets. Others has gone through some back testing and found that if you lay all the Back selections under odds 2 you would make a quite good profit.

One of our readers wrote:

“Just to give you an idea of the profits from using the backing system to select horses to lay at odds on only, the graph in June’s WRWM magazine shows a profit of just over 1000 pounds for 20 pound lays at about 160 bets…not bad for low liability. It would be interesting if you applied the rules for not only odds on bets but all qualifying odds?”

Cracking Betfair will go to “Neutral” folder. If you use the system as described in the manual then you will surely lose lots of money, however if you use the backing method to find lay bets then it has shown a very good profit in back testing. I won’t be using it since I think it must be possible to make a better odds on lay system and therefore we give it a “neutral” oppinion.

Let me know if anyone are using Carcking Betfair and making any profits or losses!!! Just leave a comment :-)

Already tested its rubbish, but there is an upside – use the backing system for selections to lay at odds on only…this will work long term and is recommended.

    Hi Fraser,

I have also heard that the back system is better to used for Laying.

What do you think about the laying system in Cracking Betfair??

  3. Fraser macquire on June 24th, 2008 12:59 pm

The lay system will move forward then profits will be swallowed up with a couple of 6.0 dollar winners. Over time it’s no good. You may get a lucky streak here and there as with all systems, but overall you will break even/lose.
    Fraser.

    Hi Fraser,

Do you have any previous results to back it up? (I must say that I think the same as you about it, but thought I would put it to a test instead of just saying that it does not work since it’s always the backing system that has gotten bad reviews).

  5. Fraser macquire on June 25th, 2008 1:59 pm

Paper traded only laying for a month, but really a good test should run over at least 6 months. Your test results look good for the laying so far. Clive Keeling at What Really Makes Money tested the systems long term and recommends using the backing system to lay at odds on shots only, and follow the rules strictly to the letter. If more than 8 runners no bet. Good luck keep up the good work. I must admit I favour sports betting like tennis as there’s only 2 results – win or loss…no draws against you!

Just a point – your back selection at Bath 21.40 “Belotto” doesn’t meet the criteria for backing as it hasn’t run over that race distance before.
    Regards,
    Fraser.

I hope the tester sees your comment, it’s not me personally finding the selections. But will remove the result. Thanks for your comments :-)

On today’s selections for backing, wasn’t there also a qualifier in 4:40 Salisbury: Hawridge King?

Just to give you an idea of the profits from using the backing system to select horses to lay at odds on only, the graph in June’s WRWM magazine shows a profit of just over 1000 pounds for 20 pound lays at about 160 bets…not bad for low liability. It would be interesting if you applied the rules for not only odds on bets but all qualifying odds?

What staking plan do they use. I have the magazine but I can’t get the staking software that they seem to use to work. Can you explain how the staking plan works?

I will definately also look into using the back system for lay selections because it is actually one of the worst backing systems I have seen so far ;-)

    l’auberge.

I can’t tell if Hawridge King was a possible back selection now, but i’m sorry if i missed one, especially because it won.

Some of the times there are more than one selection to a race, and when that happens i try to select the best one to bet on.

  12. Fraser macquire on July 2nd, 2008 3:10 pm

Just level stakes of 20 pounds, no staking plans, as Clive has confirmed this to me by e-mail. There will be losing periods but overall the graph shows an increasing trend upwards.

[...] I have now decided to close the test of Cracking Betfair and give it a “neutral oppinion”. It should actually go to “not recommended” systems, but because the backing system performs so bad with odds on shots that it has shown to make a profit if you lay these instead of backing it goes to “neutral”. That is interesting what has been said above about the odds-on picks. I found much the same thing when I was testing a system with different criteria. The system was roughly to pick the horse which was forecast favourite, top RPR, was Postdata pick and had the most tips and it showed a level stakes profit when laying odds-on horses. It makes sense that the weight of the money from punters who back horses which are seemingly a sure bet drags the price down to where there is value in laying them.
