I have in my earlier days some times layed at Betfair SP (Betfair Starting Prices). However, a couple of unfortunate events has learned me some things that I wish to share with you so you don’t make the same mistake.
For instance 1. June if you wanted to lay Doubtful Sound there was a layer who had placed £23.000 LAY at Betfair SP. Because there was not many backers the Betfair SP became a whooping 15.77 instead of around 4.0 where it closed. If you had just Layed Doubtful sound at Betfair SP you would have been in foa big surprise if the horse had won and you had to pay back odds 15.77 on a horse which should only had been 4.0.
This has happened some times before and it can really destroy your betting bank. I recommend that IF you decide to use Betfair SP, then ALWAYS remember to set a maximum odds. Some people don’t think about it if they place a lay at Betfair SP 1 minute before the race because usually the odds you get are around the odds it ends up having when suspended.
